Taping is a great tool to help with pain relief, blood flow, and stability during the rehab process.

In our clinic, we utilize taping (also known as kinesiology taping or rock taping) as a supplemental tool to help optimize movement patterns, manage and reduce swelling, improve circulation, and provide support to painful muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints.

How it Works

Once applied to the skin, the tension in the tape provides a type of sensory feedback to the brain which can decrease pain and sensitivity and influence movement patterns.

The tension from the tape can provide “lift” in the skin which promotes blood and lymphatic flow and can thus reduce swelling and inflammation.

The tape is hypoallergenic and designed to stretch and move with your skin, making it very comfortable and able to be worn for multiple days. It is best used in conjunction with the rest of your rehab plan.

FAQ

How long should I leave the tape on?

The tape we use in our office is designed to stay on from 4-5 days. It can be removed before that but should not be worn longer than that in order to prevent skin irritation.

Can I get my tape wet?

Yes! The tape is extra sticky and water resistant. You are free to sweat and shower in your tape, and if you notice any curling at the edges, simply rub it back down with your fingers to reactivate the adhesive.
