Cold plunging, also known as cold water immersion or cold therapy, involves submerging your body in a tub of cold water for a short duration to “shock” your system. The benefits range from improved mental clarity to reduced muscle soreness and enhanced circulation. Many people report just as many mental health as physical health benefits after cold plunging.

Best practices

The recommended duration in the cold plunge is between 1-5 minutes. If you are new to cold plunging, start small and gradually increase over repeated sessions. Submerge yourself to your neck and focus on deep nasal breaths throughout the duration of your session.

Do I have the recovery studio to myself?

Yes! When you book our recovery room, you get private access to both the sauna and the cold plunge during your allotted time.

Do I have to be a patient at The Body Lab to use the recovery room?

Our Recovery Studio is open to anyone! You don’t have to be a patient at the clinic to take advantage of our amenities.

Can I share a booking with a partner or friend?

Yes, we offer “buddy passes” that allow you to book the recovery room with a partner or friend. Select the “Two person session” option on the booking page here.

Do I have to purchase a membership to be able to utilize the sauna?

Drop-in options are always available for non-members!

What do I bring / wear to my session?

We provide towels, and the sauna has bluetooth speakers built in. Just bring yourself, water, and clothes you don’t mind sweating in. If you are utilizing the cold plunge, please bring a swimsuit.

What do I do when I get in? How long do I stay in?

The beauty of the sauna is that you get to do nothing! Sit, lay, or find any position that is comfortable for you. Feel free to listen to music or an audiobook, do a meditation, or even take a nap. This time is all about unwinding. Recommended sauna duration is 20-45 minutes.

What happens after I sign up?

After you reserve your session, look for an email with a waiver and instructions sent to your inbox. This will tell you everything you need to know about accessing our 24-hour space.

How often should I use the infrared sauna?

For general wellness, 2-3x/week is the recommended frequency.
